It's the time of year to remind people of the delightful two page comic Mike Mignola created around young Hellboy eating his first pancake

Back in 2016 I attended a panel for Mike Mignola at San Diego Comic Con. I got the chance to ask him if the BPRD books would ever get bound omnibus editions like they did for Hellboy. He said that he didn’t know, it was entirely up to the publisher, but he hoped they would.

Well apparently Dark Horse decided it was a good idea, because I just discovered they released TEN of them in 2022, and now I have way too much money to spend.

I just read The Visitor: How and Why He Stayed, part of the Hellboy franchise, and it is one of those kinds of books that alters your perception of a series so much that now I have to go back and reread Seed of Destruction to make sense of the new world view. Wow what a story.
