Spandex Grëghound<p>Potentially a dumb question, especially given how long I've been on Mastodon, and have been promoting it to people. How do I see a person's own toots? Not their boosts, replies to others, etc. Just the ones they craft with their own fingers ( if they're posting a website using a toot that's fine too). But ones they themselves toot. I thought I knew, but now that I search a friend's for his snow report, I couldn't separate all those things out. 😞 </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mastodon</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/mastodonquestions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mastodonquestions</span></a></p>
myrmepropagandist<p>Is there a way to post a URL to my *profile* page on mastodon without an @ symbol in the link? Many systems will reject links with that character or try to convert it to an email. </p><p>ANSWER: use &quot;users&quot; in the URL eg:</p><p>https: // sauropods.win /users /futurebird</p><p>Thank you <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://peoplemaking.games/@clayote" class="u-url mention">@<span>clayote</span></a></span> I will try to remember this!</p><p><a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mastodon</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/mastodonQuestions" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mastodonQuestions</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/mastodonHelp" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mastodonHelp</span></a></p>
myrmepropagandist<p>Given the on-going lowgrade discord-themed spam, we clearly need moderation on the trending hashtags too. </p><p>A spammer should NOT be able to spam their way to the top. Could there be a check to see if posts are from suspended accounts added?</p><p>This list is produced by the Mastodon web-interface, yes? Is it the responsibility of our server? (I will ask!)</p><p>Thank you to all <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/mods" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mods</span></a> out there keeping a lid on this. It&#39;s annoying. </p><p><a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/spam" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>spam</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mastodon</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/mods" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mods</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/trending" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>trending</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/mastodonQuestions" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mastodonQuestions</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/mastodonHelp" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mastodonHelp</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/DDos" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DDos</span></a></p>
Susan A. Kitchens<p>Dear <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/Mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mastodon</span></a> experts, if one were to build a tool that would allow a user from another social media site to cross-post to the user’s choice of any federated Mastodon instance, are there preferred tools or protocols to use?</p><p>I’m not a software developer, just a user of another social media site who wants to recommend the best tools to the other site’s dev team, but I don’t even know what to search for.</p><p><a href="https://masto.ai/tags/MastodonQuestions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MastodonQuestions</span></a></p>

Lucy Weir<p>What's the story, @mastodon? I got a news item message this morning that you'd (in one instance) been hacked and one server closed down. Nothing in any other news, though. Camera-wiki.org<p>Is anyone noticing a problem with photo posts? In the past we were able to post Flickr photos but now our old Flickr photo posts have been turned into blurred images and our most recent attempt shows only a bare URL.</p><p>Is this a Mastodon bug or user error on our part? DannekRoseI'm trying to understand and better provide accurate information to people I know who may be contemplating moving from the birdsite to the Fediverse, primarily Mastodon (and microblogging platforms) and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.<br><br>I'm looking for ways to do some things from the birdsite that I don't seem to see available here on the major platform Mastodon. <br><br>1. Twitter Circles - This is a separate list of people who you can designate as being able to see a given post. This is separate from your followers and is usually a small subset of them.<br>2. Ability to block (as in refuse delivery/drop the post) DMs from accounts you do not follow. You can disable notifications, yes, but this is about rejecting the post entirely.<br>3. Integrations with Discord bots. This is less a feature of the birdsite, but I'm looking for bots that can interact with Discord channels/servers in ways that some did for the birdsite.<br>4. Restrict who can "Reply" to a post. <br>5. Restrict who can "Boost" a post.<br>(I think these 2 are actually what people are looking for when they discuss concerns about adding quote-posts to Mastodon)<br>6. *Editing* (as opposed to "Delete - RePost") the visibility of posts after they have been published.<br><br><a class="hashtag" href="https://gamerfort.social/tag/mastodon" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#mastodon</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://gamerfort.social/tag/fediverse" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#fediverse</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://gamerfort.social/tag/migration" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#migration</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://gamerfort.social/tag/birdsitemigration" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#birdSiteMigration</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://gamerfort.social/tag/mastodonquestions" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#mastodonQuestions</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://gamerfort.social/tag/fediversequestions" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#fediverseQuestions</a>

Hollie<p>I'd like to be able to add hashtags to lists. For instance I have a "Fiber" list and I can add the knitting and handspinning groups, but I can't add #/handspinning (or at least, I don't think so?).
