friends i recently installed weston in linux mint debian edition faye
i was trying to get waydroid to work but gave up after i was unable to get the weston waydroid window to connect to the internet
is it better to make a new clean installation of linux mint DE than to try and remove weston?
i have not noticed anything bad, but have read that installing new desktop environments can cause problems and weston installed wayland

@gay_ornithischians I'll preface by saying I don't know weston specifically, and would recommend double checking their documentation, but in general you should be okay to uninstall it, should uninstall all the packages that came with it

@gay_ornithischians If I remember correctly there's an apt switch that purges all config files and so on when uninstalling, maybe that would also be helpful

@gay_ornithischians normally I would have said it doesn't matter, desktop environments and display managers are usually set up so you can have more than one installed in parallel.
I'm not sure how much Wayland adds to that, and how much your normal WM depends on having only x.org installed.
I have Wayland with lxde and a couple of others installed (that I tried out and didn't bother to remove yet), no problems so far.

TL;DR you should be fine.

@gay_ornithischians I still use Mate desktop and xorg. Have tried the multiple desktop thing and had problems. I'd probably reinstall, since I'm starting from a known working place. What is Weston, besides a town in Massachusetts? For that matter, so is Wayland, and the towns are near each other.
