Here is how you can become a millionaire off of teachers:

Use ai to make a program that would take a list of words and short observations and also grades for a set of students and generate coherent, correctly spelled, polite, clear recommendation letters and comments.

Ya'll are so worried about students being lazy you didn't consider the true lazy ones.

It's not bad for cover letters!

I hate cover letters. I overthink them. No one reads them. They just need to be bland and clear and not cause a problem. Why can't a computer help with that?

I tried some of my written assignment prompts from my CS class... It had trouble with the questions that needed a lot of context "What methods and helper methods should we add next to further develop the "series" class?"

@futurebird The killer app is surely writing chat up lines for Tinder, OKCupid, Ashley Maddison etc.

"write a personal ad that will get me laid at the technorama conference that doesn't make me sound too creepy'

@hallam @futurebird I plugged that in. It sounded pretty defensive about the not creepy part. It’s going to need some work.

@futurebird if gpts can write perfect bland cover letters, then what we need is not better gpts, we need BETTER HIRERS! i remember the what color is my parachute guy saying 'the way job hunting in this country works is NEANDERTHAL'

of course the neanderthals were probly much better at it

@futurebird
My wife was fantasizing about using ML bots to do lit searches (motivated in part by having to review too many papers & diss-proposals in her field where the lit review is several years obsolete).

We arrived together at the disappointing realization that chatbots won't have access to the right databases.

@futurebird just curious. How much hiring do you do? How dependent is the field in which you work on the ability to write and analyze writing? (Mine is law, so it is pretty important.) What are your criteria for hiring?

@futurebird If someone cannot be bothered to write an original cover letter for my firm, why should I hire them? Why shouldn’t I hire someone else who is interested enough to write an original letter? Why should I trust them to be able to crank out twenty double-spaced pages in 24 hours on short notice? That is what the job requires, and the AI has not caught up yet.

@futurebird Bonus points of it can generate a polite and unchallengeable letter to angry parents explaining why their kid didn’t pass.

Hmm. Seems well on the way.

Write a polite, but impossible to question, letter to a parent explaining that their child flunked English class because they never showed up for class and didn’t attend any of the makeup classes and didn’t raise an issue until grades were already done.
---

Dear [Parent's Name],

I am writing to inform you that your child, [Student's Name], has unfortunately flunked their English class for the semester. Despite multiple attempts to reach out and offer assistance, [Student's Name] failed to attend any of the regular classes or the makeup classes offered.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we always try to accommodate any issues that may affect a student's attendance. However, in this case, [Student's Name] did not raise any concerns until the grades had already been completed.

We understand that this news may be disappointing and we want to assure you that we take the education of all our students very seriously. We also want to make sure that this does not happen again in the future and would like to offer [Student's Name] additional support if they need it.

We would like to schedule a meeting with you and [Student's Name] to discuss how we can work together to ensure that [Student's Name] can succeed in their classes going forward. Please let us know if this is something that you would be interested in.

We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
[English Teacher]

@futurebird This sounds a bit like FlowWrite, to be honest. Although that’s geared towards writing emails IIRC.
